Differentiation

When life looks fine, but doesn’t feel fine.

Trauma doesn’t always show up in obvious ways.

You may be:

feeling constantly on edge or overwhelmed

overthinking and unable to switch off

reacting more strongly than you want to in certain situations

stuck in patterns that don’t seem to change

feeling disconnected, flat, or mentally exhausted

Goldy also offers neuroaffirming therapy for adults navigating ADHD, autism, burnout, trauma or addiction—adapted to how you think, feel and live.

Pensive Woman Thinking

Trauma Impacts the Brain and Body

Over time, this can lead to:

Heightened alertness or anxiety and difficulty 'switching off'

Difficulty regulating emotions

Automatic reactions that feel out of your control

Avoiding thoughts, feelings, people, places, activities or  conversations

Closeness or intimacy can feel overwhelming

Constant rumination, impaired short-term memory or concentration

Intrusive or distressing thoughts and memories

Disrupted sleep, digestive symptoms or changes in immune function

Feeling numb, disconnected or like you wear a mask to hide how you truly feel

Trauma affects how your brain processes information and how your nervous system responds to stress.

These responses are not a weakness — they are adaptations

At Vista, we go beyond coping strategies to target the underlying factors maintaining your distress, experiences and behaviours, using therapies proven to be effective

Therapy Options

Therapy Options to Suit Your Situation

You don’t need to choose a therapy format before your first appointment. We’ll help you understand your options.

Initial Consultation

Unsure what you need, or whether therapy could help? Your first appointment combines a gentle, non-invasive discussion with carefully selected tools to understand your concerns and what may be maintaining your distress. You can share at your own pace and ask questions. Together, we explore how therapy could help and develop a personalised treatment plan, with a recommended approach and clear next steps for you to consider. There’s no obligation to book further sessions or proceed with therapy.

Regular Therapy Sessions

Therapy at a steady pace, with time between appointments to reflect, practise new skills and apply what you learn. Sessions may be weekly, fortnightly or more frequent, depending on your needs, preferences and treatment plan. Together, we review progress and adjust the approach as your needs change.

Intensive Therapy Programs

When trauma or distress is taking over your life, intensive therapy offers a focused way to work towards relief sooner. Longer, closely spaced sessions concentrate treatment into a shorter period, with dedicated time to address the experiences and patterns keeping you stuck. Using evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, we work to reduce distress and help you regain a greater sense of calm and control. Your programme is personalised, with preparation, carefully paced treatment and follow-up support.

If You’ve Tried Therapy Before and It Didn’t Work

This is more common than most people expect.

You may have:

gained insight but not seen change

felt understood but not progressed

stopped because it didn’t feel effective

learnt coping strategies, but still rely on them because the underlying issues remain

There can be many reasons therapy hasn’t brought the change you hoped for. At Vista, we identify and target the underlying factors driving and maintaining your distress—not just how to cope with it.

At Vista, we explore:

Factors maintaining your distress

Which approach, pace and Therapist fit your needs

We work collaboratively through an agreed treatment plan focused on meaningful outcomes.

Regular reviews track progress and guide adjustments, keeping therapy targeted to your needs and goals.
