Vista Advanced Psychological Therapy

A Multi-Award-Winning Psychological Therapy Practice
on the Gold Coast

We provide structured, evidence-informed therapy for adults and older adolescents seeking more than open-ended talking therapy.

Our work is designed for people who value privacy, clinical depth, clear direction and a purposeful therapeutic process.

Vista brings together a multi-disciplinary therapy team across psychology, accredited mental health social work and credentialed mental health nursing. This allows clients and referrers to access clinician-matched care based on presentation, goals, funding pathway, preference, availability and clinical fit.

Our focus is simple: clinical excellence, a high-quality client experience, and meaningful progress toward each person’s therapeutic goals.

Therapy With Structure, Direction and Clinical Depth

Many people contact Vista after trying to manage difficulties for a long time, or after previous therapy has not provided the depth, direction or progress they were hoping for.

At Vista, therapy is not approached as a vague or endless process. We focus on assessment, formulation, treatment planning, evidence-informed intervention, review and consolidation.

This means therapy is guided by a clear understanding of the person’s concerns, history, strengths, goals and current life context.

Where clinically appropriate, therapy may include trauma-focused approaches, EMDR, EMDR 2.0, Trauma-Focused CBT, CBT, ACT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, DBT-informed skills, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and other formulation-driven approaches within the clinician’s scope and competence.

The aim is to help each person understand what is maintaining distress, identify a clear therapeutic direction, and work toward meaningful, practical progress without promising a specific outcome.

Designed Around the Client Experience

We understand that starting therapy can feel significant.

We understand that starting therapy can feel significant.

From your first enquiry through to your appointment, our team aims to provide a clear, respectful and professional experience, within a calm and discreet practice environment.

Vista has been developed as a discreet, purpose-designed therapy environment.

The premises are calm, professional and intentionally designed to support privacy, comfort and focus.

Our team aims to provide an experience that is friendly, respectful, organised and clinically purposeful.

Clinical excellence at Vista means more than qualifications or experience.

It means careful thinking, clear formulation, ethical practice, use of evidence-informed therapies, regular review and respect.

We do not believe therapy should be rushed, pressured or reduced to a standard script.

Trauma Expertise Remains Central to Vista

Vista was founded by Karl Jacks, a credentialed mental health nurse with extensive experience in trauma therapy, PTSD, complex PTSD and trauma-related presentations.

Karl previously worked as a Queensland Health Clinical Nurse Consultant in trauma therapy and has worked with complex trauma presentations across public mental health, private practice, disability, forensic and community settings.

As Vista has grown, the practice has developed from a solo practitioner service into a multi-disciplinary therapy team.

Karl’s trauma background remains an important part of Vista’s clinical identity, while the broader team allows the practice to offer clinician-matched therapy across a wider range of presentations and funding pathways.

Each clinician practises within their own verified qualifications, professional registration or accreditation, competence and scope.

Vista is not a high-volume, discount or generalist counselling brand.

The practice is built around privacy, quality, clinical depth and structured therapeutic care.

Clients who choose Vista are often looking for a professional process that feels calm, discreet, carefully considered and purposeful.
