About

Meet Karl, award-winning mental health nurse and trauma therapist

Counsellor and trainer for over 20 years. Hi, I’m Karl Jacks, founder of Vista Advanced Psychological Therapy. I began my career in the UK, and have worked in mental health for decades. I’ve helped people overcome severe trauma, from childhood abuse to the loss of everything in the Queensland floods. I’ve seen how the damage can last for years, and I love helping people move beyond it.

Trauma Training Workshops

Trauma training for professionals, family members, support workers, allies and more

When I was working in remote health in Queensland, I saw first-hand how many people stayed ‘on the books’ of support organisations for years. All too often, unresolved trauma from many years ago left these people vulnerable. Their trauma was frequently triggered, adversely impacting their mental wellbeing, their relationships and their daily lives.

Informal discussions about the long-term impact of trauma gradually morphed into formal workshops and training, which I run for organisations and as public courses.

In addition to one-on-one counselling, I run trauma training workshops for health professionals, support workers and others.
